Postpartum Counseling: Supporting Your Journey Through Postpartum Depression
Becoming a mother is often portrayed as one of the most joyful experiences in life, but for many, it can also bring unexpected challenges. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed after the birth of your child, know that you are not alone. At Counseling by Camryn, I specialize in helping new mothers navigate the complexities of postpartum depression (PPD) and find their way back to emotional well-being.
As a licensed counselor in both Tennessee and California, I understand the unique pressures and expectations that come with motherhood. I’m here to provide a safe, supportive space where you can express your feelings, share your experiences, and begin to heal.
Understanding Postpartum Depression: More Than Just the Baby Blues
Postpartum depression is often misunderstood. While many new mothers experience what is commonly referred to as the "baby blues," which typically resolves within a few weeks, PPD is more severe and can last for months or even longer. It’s characterized by feelings of sadness, anxiety, and exhaustion that can interfere with your ability to care for yourself and your baby.
I want you to know that experiencing PPD does not mean you are a bad mother. It’s a medical condition that can affect anyone, regardless of their background or circumstances. The hormonal changes, sleep deprivation, and the immense responsibility of caring for a newborn can all contribute to feelings of inadequacy and despair.
In our sessions, I will help you understand the signs and symptoms of PPD, which may include:
Persistent sadness or low mood
Difficulty bonding with your baby
Changes in appetite or sleep patterns
Feelings of guilt or worthlessness
Irritability or anger
Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
Recognizing these symptoms is the first step toward healing, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Support for Partners: I understand that postpartum depression affects not only the mother but also her partner and family. I offer sessions for partners to help them understand what you’re going through and how they can best support you. This collaborative approach can strengthen your relationship and create a more supportive home environment.
